Slipper faces up to Mr Bean

THE Speaker of the House of Representatives feels he has been "a victim of identity theft".

And the scoundrel who has stolen Member for Fisher, Peter Slipper's identity is... Mr Bean.

Mr Slipper said he had put Mr Bean, aka Rowan Atkinson, as one of his "likes" on his Facebook page because so many people thought he was him.

"A couple of elections ago all the way down the highway someone had put a Mr Bean corflute next to mine.

"I was asked if I was upset and I said, 'no, my wife has called me that for years'.

"I'm miffed in a sense because Rowan Atkinson has stolen my identity."

He's even had people looking for his signature, as Mr Bean not Mr Slipper.

"I was at the BP in Caloundra about a year ago when this guy came up to me and asked me if I was enjoying my time here.

"I said 'yes'. He asked if I'd have time to visit Australia Zoo and I said I'd been there before. Then he asked what brought me to this part of Australia and I said I was a Member for the area.

"He said: 'I thought you were Rowan Atkinson'.

"Both my wife and I laughed immensely."

This wasn't the first time.

"When I was at Alex Headland I heard a school child saying to his parents 'Mr Bean handed me a how to vote card'."

Thankfully, Mr Slipper admires his look-alike.
