Skydivers injured in separate accidents

TWO skydivers have been injured in two separate accidents at Ballina and Tyagarah near Byron Bay.

A 39-year-old man sustained serious leg and pelvic injuries after a hard landing at Kingsford Smith Park about 10am this morning in Ballina while reportedly testing new equipment.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and the man was airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital in the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter in a serious but stable condition.

Meanwhile a second skydiver sustained serious injuries including a suspected fractured ankle after veering off course during a routine dive and landing in bushland near Tyagarah Airfield.
