Sizzling softball season on the Far North Coast
THE warm weather has arrived on the Northern Rivers and that can only mean one thing - softball season is about to start.
Following on from a very successful Lismore Masters 2017 Softball Competition, in which local clubs Rous Hotel, Byron, Woodburn and Workers all featured in the medal tally, Far North Coast Softball Association is gearing up for another busy summer.
This year FNCSA is focussing on junior development with the introduction of Blast Ball - for ages three to six years, T-ball - ages seven to nine, and Rookie Ball for kids 10-12 years, on Friday afternoons from 5.30-6.30pm.
The hotly-contested Charity Shield will again be held on Fridays, from 6.45-8pm, kicking off on October 13.
Teams competing in the Charity Shield are able to win up to $1000 prize money for the charity of their choice, with previous recipients including the Casino Men's Shed and the Jarjum Preschool.
The women's competition will resume this Saturday with four divisions being contested this year. Divisions two and four will start at 1.30pm and divisions one and three from 3.30pm.
