Simply the best: Mitch’s top 5 NRRRL players so far in 2016
Lachlan Crawter (Kyogle)
THIS young second-rower consistently plays well each week for the Turkeys.
He is part of a core group of young players who have come into first grade at Kyogle recently.
Crawter was rewarded for his strong start to the year in the NRRRL with selection into the initial representative team for the Northern Rivers.
Kyle Kennedy (Marist Brothers)
ANOTHER young second-rower producing some powerful performances this season.
Similar mould to teammate Jack Durheim who is also in the team at lock and only a few years older than Kennedy.
He will be a key player at the Rams for years to come if they can keep hold of him.
Ryan O'Connell (Byron Bay)
IT DOESN'T matter what position he plays, the Byron Bay captain puts in a whole-hearted performance each week.
He can play anywhere from centre to halfback and led the side to its first win of the season against Kyogle at the weekend.
Simon Perkins (Ballina)
A NO-NONSENSE second rower who is back at the Seagulls after a season out of the game.
Perkins gets through a mountain of work and never has a bad game.
He will lead the way in the absence of injured front-rower Dylan Montgomery.
Alwyn Roberts (Northern United)
LEADING the way at Northern United and keeps finding his way on to this list.
The Dirawongs are one of the form teams of the competition at the moment, coming off wins against Cudgen and Ballina.
Roberts leaves nothing in the tank and is dangerous whether he is at five-eighth or lock.
