Silver for slalom canoeist

OLD BONALBO'S Rosalyn Lawrence has claimed a silver medal for Australia in the women's C1 event at the canoe slalom world championships in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain.

Lawrence was part of an Australian clean sweep in the demonstration event with Leanne Guinea finishing first and 14-year-old Jessica Fox snaring the bronze medal.

Guinea led the way with a total score of 137.80, which was a massive improvement on her semi-final score which saw the Victorian languishing in seventh place.

Lawrence also improved dramatically from the semi-final, producing a clean run and finishing with a total of 143.10.

Fox completed the hat-trick with a total of 145.41, a 10-second improvement on her semi-final score.

Unfortunately, Kate Lawrence finished a disappointing 20th in the women's K1 semi-final.

She picked up 50-second penalty down the course, ruling her out of contention for the medal round.
