Kyogle showgirl has country through her veins

A LOVE of agriculture and a love of Kyogle have seen Lauren Donaldson take out the 2014 Kyogle Showgirl competition.

The 23-year-old, who works as a legal secretary in Lismore, only moved to the area two years ago, but says she has fallen in love with the community spirit of the town.

Lauren grew up on a 24 hectare property in Cooroy, Queensland where she developed a passion for horse riding and campdrafting. The family bought a larger property in Kyogle where they run cattle.

Lauren went to the Kyogle Show for the first time last year and her friend Amanda O'Reilly won the showgirl competition.

"I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn new things and meet new people... I'm passionate about agriculture and want to be involved in the community," she said.

Lauren will now represent Kyogle at a regional competition in Yamba in February.

"I'll tell them what Kyogle has to offer that other areas don't," she said. Lauren hopes to study law at SCU and become a lawyer.
