Show on Main Street

ORGANISERS of Show Week at Alstonville will this year be taking the festivities to the street.

The second annual Show Week will be held from October 19-27, with the finale being the Alstonville Show itself.

And on October 20, organisers have approval from Ballina Shire Council to close a section of Main St in the village's CBD for an arts and craft market.

Show Week is organised by the Alstonville Lions and Apex clubs, with sponsorship from local businesses.

Les Wiles, from the Lions Club, said the opening of the Alstonville bypass now allowed for Main St to be closed to traffic for community events.

"That's what we always wanted," he said.

"Once the bypass was through, we can run events like this."

The street will be closed to traffic from 7am-4.30pm on October 20. Anyone wanting to set up a stall can phone Mr Wiles on 6628 5161.

A vintage car display has also been organised.

Meanwhile, a Community Fun Day will be held at Alstonville Plaza on October 19.

Community groups can set up a display to promote themselves. Phone Mr Wiles for information.

Organisers are interested in hearing from those who would like to run an event during Show Week.

This year's Alstonville Show - Ballina Shire's only show - will be the 125th.
