We inhabit our homes differently from season to season.

Here are a few tips to help you to transition seamlessly to summer and our holiday season.

Firstly, say sayonara to winter.

That includes storing winter accessories, such as heaters or wood and bringing out the fans.

Remove wool throws, heavy curtains and winter bedding.

You may even want to replace heavy rugs with lighter mats.

There are some spring chores that will help to ensure your home is summer ready.

Clean any overhead fans, before you actually use them, as dust and grime can accumulate over the winter months and you don't want the first time you use a fan to result in muck being flung around the room.

If you use air-conditioning at home, you might want to check if the filters need cleaning.

As well as preparing for the hotter months, you may want to ensure that your home is ready for entertaining.

Ensure the outside areas are pruned and tidy, the pool is sparkling, the umbrellas are out and the barbecue and accessories are cleaned and ready to fire up at short notice.

Stock the freezer with plenty of ice and readymade popsicles and make sure you have plenty of insect repellent and sunblock.
