Shots fired during all-night seige

RICHMOND Local Area Command have taken part in all-night siege at Edenville during which shots were fired from a residence.

Richmond LAC Detective Inspector Greg Moore said police arrived at the property about 7pm last night after interviewing a woman receiving treatment at Kyogle Hospital, who reported a domestic dispute.

A perimeter was set up around the Edenville Rd property and police from the State Protection Support Unit were called.

The State Protection Support Unit is a group of local police who receive specific training in 'high risk situations'.

Negotiations were started via telephone and continued throughout the evening.

Early this morning about 7.15am a 20-year old man surrendered himself to police. Police retrieved two hunting rifles from the scene.
