Koala dies after three-month fight

A KOALA has died at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital almost three months since it was rescued after being shot in every limb.

Six-year-old Fleet passed away yesterday, the wildlife hospital said in a media statement.

The Daily reported in October that Fleet had been found at Kippa-Ring in Brisbane after he was shot seven times and left for a week before he was rescued.

He was operated on at the wildlife hospital and placed on intravenous antibiotics and strong pain relief and fluids.

At the time, the hospital said Fleet risked having his leg amputated due to severe infection.
