Shorten comes to aid of car crash victim

OPPOSITION leader Bill Shorten has come to the aid of a woman who was involved in car crash near Newcaslte.

The opposition leader's entourage pulled up on Cessnock Road at Testers Hollow on Thursday afternoon after a head-on collision involving other cars, 9News reports.

Local radio has since reported a car tried to do a u-turn in front of Mr Shorten's car and collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

A woman in her mid-20s had to be freed from her car and suffered minor facial injuries and pain in the knee.

The woman was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
