Short film course

A NEW two-day course in short film making called How To Launch Your Film Career With A Short Film will be presented on November 17 & 18 at Lismore TAFE.

"We are witnessing a revolution in short films" said Screenworks general manager Jill Moonie.

"Thanks to the internet filmmakers are able to fund, promote and exhibit their short films as never before."

"A good short film had the potential to attract industry attention as well as offers of funding for future films," said course presenter Jiao Chen.

The course covers the essentials of short film making including casting and attracting professional actors, financing and how to get your film seen by taste makers.

Ms Moonie said Jiao Chen was part of a new wave of creative producers working with some of the screen industry's best on films including Mao's Last Dancer and Children of the Silk Road.

"A host of well known film makers including Wayne Blair, David Michod and Cate Shortland attracted attention from key screen funding bodies and decision makers through their early career short films," said Ms Moonie.

How To Launch Your Film Career With A Short Film costs $110 or $80 for TAFE students and Screenworks members.
