Shop in memory of Muzza
GOOD old-fashioned milkshakes, thick shakes and ice creams have made an appearance in Oak St, Evans Head.
Just in time for summer and it's thanks to Petria Powell and her six children, ranging in age from 12 to 20, who have made the move to the town from Clunes.
"We've had a beach house in Evans Head for some time and after my husband died, I thought it would be nice to move here and open the shop in honour of him, so we've called it Muzza's Milk Bar," she said.
"Murray loved his sweets. He'd throw such a 'darkie' if he didn't have his sweets after dinner."
Murray Powell, a police officer for 39 years - 26 years at Byron Bay - sadly died of cancer last year.
"He was such a family man and he'd be proud of what we are doing here," she said.
"We have 26 flavours of ice cream, with six of those being sorbets."
The milk bar uses traditional recipes when making their ice cream sundaes and ice cream sodas.
"We also charge family prices to keep it affordable," Ms Powell said.
Opening hours are 10am-6.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9.30am-8pm Friday to Sunday.
