Shop at Salvation Saturday

SALVATION at last for all those people wanting to stock their wardrobe for winter without paying a fortune.

A giant bargain day is being held at the Salvos' Tweed Heads store tomorrow, so workers actually get to go to the op shop with time to browse.

"The community has been so good to us," acting manager Tracy Sheard said.

"Our store has incredible clothing thanks to their generosity."

Second-hand clothing has come a long way.

At Salvos, there is a myriad of fancy hats fit for the best race day with jewellery, dresses and shoes to match.

All clothing will cost $2, with everything else reduced by 50%, excluding purchased products like soap powder.

There's even a 50% reduction on furniture.

"That's a significant reduction if you are trying to fit out a new home," Ms Sheard said.

The store in Machinery Dr, Tweed Heads is a veritable super mart for second-hand goods.

"The quality is amazing," she said.

"I see people getting a whole outfit for just a few dollars.

"You can imagine what you could put together at $2 an item."

The store is open from 9am to 5pm for six days each week (Monday to Saturday).

"We know how hard it is for some people to get to the store when they are working," Ms Sheard said.

"We also know how hard it is for the average person to make ends meet. So it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to help them fit out their wardrobe for next to nothing."
