Shark Creek crash victim suffers potential spinal injuries

A MAN has suffered possible spinal injuries in single vehicle crash at Shark Creek overnight.

Police said the 20-year-old Bonville man was negotiating a slight bend near the Shark Creek turnoff in when his car left the Pacific Highway and impacted with a tree about 10pm.

A passing motorist saw the driver of the Honda Jazz was trapped inside and called Triple Zero to alert emergency services.

Traffic on the Pacific Highway was interrupted for about an hour and a half while emergency services responded, with police alternating traffic flow in the south bound lane to keep the highway open.

After being released from the vehicle, the victim was stabilised and taken to Lismore Base Hospital with possible neck and spinal injuries, along with a laceration to his head.

It is believed he is now in a stable condition.
