Two women sexually assaulted in unrelated attacks at Lismore
TWO Lismore women have been sexually assaulted over the past six weeks and police are appealing for witnesses to the attacks.
Police Inspector Mick Dempsey said the most recent attack occurred on Friday.
Insp Dempsey said the woman had been at a South Lismore address when she decided to walk home about 1.15am.
"While she was walking along Casino St she was approached by an unknown man from behind," he said.
"He pushed the 37-year-old to the ground and sexually assaulted her."
Insp Dempsey said the woman went home and contacted police.
Police went to the woman's address and spoke to her before she was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
The woman had been drinking with two men and another woman at South Lismore's Station Hotel earlier in the night.
In an unrelated attack, Insp Dempsey said a 19-year-old woman was attacked on August 17 in Lismore.
"The female was walking home along Magellan St near Brewster St about 11.30pm when she was approached from behind by three men who sexually assaulted her."
The woman went home and called police who went to her address before she was transported to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
Insp Dempsey said neither of the women sustained any other physical injuries in the attacks.
