Sexual assault at Byron schoolies

[BREAKING] Police on the state’s far north coast have arrested and charged a man with the sexual assault of a teenage girl during schoolies’ celebrations at Byron Bay.

The man, from country Victoria, allegedly attacked the 17-year-old youth in the sand dunes on Main Beach sometime between 10.45pm and 11.30pm yesterday (Monday, November 30).

The girl, from Melbourne’s north-western outskirts, managed to break free and run away.

She alerted police from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command a short time later and officers immediately commenced inquiries.
