SES flood seminars
BUSINESSES in Lismore will be asked to prepare comprehensive flood safety plans as part of two seminars organised by the SES today.
While the Northern Rivers escaped damage from the weekend floods that devastated the Mid-North Coast, the SES said Lismore had a particularly complicated flood problem.
“They need to have a business flood safety plan,” SES deputy regional controller Darren Winkler said. “If an evacuation is called they need to know how long it takes them to pack up.”
Today’s seminars – a breakfast at the Richmond Hotel and an afternoon session at the Star Court Theatre – will include presentations from the NSW Environment Department, Lismore City Council and the SES.
Mr Winkler said businesses would be shown an online flood management plan tool kit.
