Man suffers serious head injuries in Tabulam car crash

UPDATE 1.50pm: A MAN in his 50s has been airlifted to hospital with critical head injuries after a crash on the Bruxner Highway near Tabulam.

The single vehicle crash happened just before 10am, about 55km west of Casino.

The Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the crash, landing on an oval at Tabulam.

The intensive care air medical crew was met by a NSW Ambulance team who transferred the patient from the crash site.

He received further treatment on site and was airlifted to the Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

UPDATE 1.15pm: WHILE emergency crews work to clear a crash from the Bruxner Highway at Tabulam, holidaymakers continue to be delayed in a traffic snarl between Ewingsdale and Tintenbar on the Pacific Highway.

The Traffic Management Centre says the queue of vehicles on that stretch of road, which is undergoing road works as part of the Pacific Highway upgrade, is now more than four kilometres long and is adding about 10 minutes to northbound motorists' trip.

11.52am: THE Bruxner Highway has been partially closed at Tabulam after a serious crash about 10km west of the town.

After initially advising motorists to delay trips through the area, the Transport Management Centre says there are now traffic controllers allowing traffic through.

Motorists were advised to allow extra travel time while travelling through the area.

Emergency services are on-site and are working to clear the scene.

There are no reports on injuries at this stage.
