Local couple identified as Pacific Hwy crash victims

TUESDAY 10.00am: THE man and woman who lost their lives in the double fatality at South Grafton on the Pacific Hwy on Monday afternoon have been identified as a local Grafton couple.

The north-bound Holden Astra they were travelling in left the roadway and rolled multiple times coming to rest in a roadside table drain near Tyson St around 2.30pm.

Police said the woman, 62, a passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.

The male driver, 67, was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital in a critical condition, but died a short time later.

Lismore-based Crash Scene Investigators examined the crash scene and are working to establish the cause.
