Serious accident closes Bruxner Highway at Casino
UPDATE, 9.20am: A 50-year-old man has died this morning after crashing into a tree on Centre Street Casino, at 6.20am.
The man is believed to have suffered a heart attack before the Holden Commodore he was driving ran off the road.
He was declared dead at the scene.
A 42-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Commodore, was trapped and had to be freed by rescue personnel.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries.
A crime scene has been established on Centre Street with police conducting investigations into the crash.
Motorists are advised there are diversions in place on Centre Street with northbound traffic being diverted into North Street while southbound traffic is being diverted into Pratt Street.
ORIGINAL REPORT: THE Bruxner Highway is closed in all directions at Summerland Way, Casino, due to a serious car accident.
Live Traffic NSW is reporting that the accident has been a fatality.
Local diversions for light vehicles are in place, while B-Doubles are being parked at the site.
Live Traffic NSW urges drivers to exercise caution, expect delays, or avoid the area by using the Pacific Highway.
