Selling Houses is team back to save more Aussie homeowners

FOXTEL'S most popular local production isn't a drama or a comedy.

It's Selling Houses Australia, a series about helping real-life homeowners sell the unsellable.

The renovation show, now in its ninth series, returns for more home improvements tonight.

The real estate rescue show is the highest rating series in Foxtel's history, reaching more than one third of all subscribers.

Over three days, real estate expert Andrew Winter, interior designer Shaynna Blaze and landscape designer Charlie Albone work miracles to help couples and families out of their predicaments.

Blaze says it's the most exhausting season they've filmed to date.

The new season sees the makeover trio take on everything from a tired country manor to a wonky windmill.

"There are some really good stories and houses, but this season is pushing us to the limit," she said.

"When you get to nine series people want to see something different. It feels pretty extreme."

Winter, who hosted the British series before moving to the Gold Coast with his family, has watched the show adapt with the changing market conditions.

"Since we've started the Australian production in 2007 we've had such a changing market," he said.

"In the early years we were flooded with Sydney stories, but the last two seasons we hardly had any Sydney stories because everything sells.

"Now we have to look at regional areas where it's been more challenging."

Season nine sees the team go to regional areas including Ballarat and South Gippsland in Victoria, the Gold Coast, Yallingup in Western Australia and North Haven on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Selling Houses Australia debuts tonight at 7.30pm Qld, 8.30pm NSW on The LifeStyle Channel.
