FOLLOWING the release of his debut record in 2012, Alstonville's Lionheir returns with the announcement of his second record, Dangerous Happiness.

The record's first single, What You Want, is already available to purchase online.

The musical brainchild of local musician Paul Appelkamp, Lionheir's first long-player was more a studio affair, recorded entirely at the revered 301 Studios in Byron Bay.

Taking a more do-it-yourself approach on his latest effort, Lionheir recorded predominantly in the confines of a home studio.

The home environment has allowed the talented artist to experiment with darker themes and a more personal lyrical content, while staying true to the indie rock/pop tenor that marked his earlier work.

With added assistance from Appelkamp's musician friends Grant Gerathy and Joel Burton, mixing by Jordan Power (Angus Stone, The Temper Trap) and mastering courtesy of William Bowden (Gotye), Lionheir's latest work shows an artist primed for sonic evolution.

Last year, the Alstonville musician successfully created a fundraising project with a $2500 goal on website Kickstarter and the support started pouring in.

Lionheir will be playing alongside Harts and Sans Parents at The Northern in Byron Bay on Saturday, July 11.
