Season to savour for athletics

COMPETITORS (left) display their trophies after the presentations to culminate the summer season of track and field for the Ballina Athletic Club.

On average more than 100 athletes in age divisions ranging from juniors to veterans faced the starter’s gun each Wednesday evening in disciplines on the track and in the field.

Club president Barry Saxby noted many outstanding results among the junior ranks with close competition for the major club trophies.

These were eventually won by Jessica Tickle for the Daley’s Meats Trophy and Kalani Armstrong getting the votes in the Beddoes Trophy.

The winter season of cross-country will start from the southern end of Shelly Beachon Sunday, April 4, at 9.30am.
