Search is on for our top local heroes ahead of awards

BALLINA Shire Council needs your help to find local heroes.

Nominations are open for the 2016 Ballina Shire Australia Day Awards and the council is calling on the community to nominate someone they admire or who inspires them.

Nominations can be made in the following categories:

  • Young Citizen of the Year (30 years of age or under);
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (60 years of age or over);
  • Volunteer of the Year;
  • Sports Award (individual, team or administrator);
  • Arts/Cultural Award;
  • Community Event of the Year.

The Citizen of the Year award will be selected by the Australia Day Committee from all of the nominees across the categories above, and the awards will be announced at the Australia Day ceremony to be held at the Lennox Head Cultural and Community Centre on January 26.
