Ballina Seagulls' big day

THE Ballina Seagulls should have a good crowd at home base in the NRRRL against Casino today as the first-grade side looks to turn around a two-game losing slide.

The Seagulls’ home today will become a festival for rugby league lovers with action spread across the whole day.

A Mini league junior carnival will begin proceedings at 9am before other junior teams roll out.

The main senior game is scheduled for a 4.45pm kick-off.

The Seagulls welcome back captain Ben Crawford, centre Dan Gibson and representative back-rower Damien Sironen.

Assistant coach Greg Barnes admitted that his men were guilty of losing the plot when they were beaten by a 12-man Brothers last weekend, but that wouldn’t happen again.

“We played into their hands last week,” he said. “Our game plan went out the window when they had a player sent off, so this week it’s been about keeping our minds on the job.”

Casino will travel to Kingsford Smith Park as hungry as ever after being pipped by the Tweed Coast Raiders last weekend.

Coach Dene Petty has been forced into a mass reshuffle in key positions after having Chris McGrath and Ben Birney ruled out.
