Australian Seabird Rescue wins environment award

BALLINA'S Australian Seabird Rescue won the environment and landcare category at the Regional Achievement and Community Awards on Saturday night.

Australian Seabird Rescue beat two other finalists in the category after being semi-finalists last year.

At a black tie ceremony at the Newcastle Leagues Club, Rochelle Ferris said the organisation was presented with a glass trophy and a cheque from the Commonwealth Bank for $5000.

The Peabody Environment & Landcare Award was developed to recognise individuals, groups and organisations educating their community and showcasing their dedication to preserving the environment.
