Schools to host a biggest little town choir
THERE will be a very special fundraising event in the second week of Term 2, on Thursday May 5 at Mullumbimby High School at 7pm.
The event is called Songs for Cambodia, and 100% of the money raised will be donated to Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC), an NGO in Siem Reap Cambodia who build simple timber homes for people living in very poor conditions across Cambodia. Tickets will be $10. Available at the door.
In January 2016 Byron Bay High School students and staff built two houses with VBC! This activity obviously made a huge difference to the lives of two families in Cambodia. At the same time VBC has provided the youth in the Byron community a very special opportunity to see a very different way of life to ours. The experience is life changing for the givers of the gift, as well as the receivers.
The evening will feature some very talented Byron and Mullumbimby high school students, including Indigo Gebbett who was awarded a Young Songwriters award in 2015. Also singing for your joy and entertainment will be The Mullumbimby Biggest Little Town Choir. They have been singing up a storm in Mullumbimby for over 5 years, and this show will come straight from their hearts as a gift to VBC and the Byron Community.
Sinn (Director) and Jason (Volunteer Coordinator) of VBC will be attending the event and will do a brief presentation and Q and A about their amazing work.
Here are some ways you can help:
1. Come along on the night, and bring some friends too!
2. If you use Facebook then please use this link to view, share, attend and like the event! You can also invite others you think would enjoy this event though the link or by forwarding this email.
3. Drop off a donation to the office at Byron Bay or Mullumbimby High School to contribute to the cause.
$4100AUD buys a house! I think it's an achievable goal for a privileged community like ours - please come along and enjoy a great night out and support this great organisation.
