Schools Olympic lesson

DUAL discipline former Olympian Alexandra Croak came down to Lismore South Public School today to talk to the students about fitness, physical activity, and her experiences as an elite athlete.

Alexandra, who represented Australia in both gymnastics and diving, appeared before the kids at lunchtime today, inspiring them with her tales of training and competing for Australia.

The former athlete, who competed at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in Gymnastics and the Beijing 2008 Olympics for Diving, holds two medals from the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Gymnastics, one medal from the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Diving, two medals from the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Diving, and one medal from the 2011 World Championships in Diving.

She's now an ambassador for the Premier's Sporting Challenge, which aims to promote the benefits of physical activity among young people.

"Exercise is good for your body and good for your mind, but it's also great for making friends, achieving goals and having a great time," she told the children.
