School recognised for Anzac service

LISMORE High School Choir has been recognised for its contribution to the Lismore Anzac Day dawn serrvice.

For more than 50 years the school choir has been part of the service, and, according to the choir teacher Colleen Best, it has never had a year off, with members turning up 'rain, hail or shine'.

Ms Best said even during the past seven years, when the service has taken place during school holidays, students have still turned up to perform.

"The students really enjoy it and even after many have graduated they turn up at the service and sing with the choir," she said.

"It really does sound wonderful when they sing during the service."

On behalf of Veterans Affairs Minister Alan Griffin, Federal Labor MP Janelle Saffin presented the school with a certificate of recognition for the choir's tradition of singing at the Anzac Dawn Service in Lismore for more than half a century.
