Sawyer, Dostine stand-outs in return of FNC Waterpolo

DAN Sawyer and Max Dostine were stand-outs and led their teams to dominant wins when Far North Coast Waterpolo resumed this week at Alstonville.

Dostine scored seven goals when Mantis dominated the Crocs in a 10-0 win.

In other games, Ballina Bin Chooks fielded an understrength side against the Barrys.

Despite their valiant efforts they couldn’t compete and went into the break 8-2 down.

Sawyer had a strong second half, adding three goals to finish on a double hat trick with six.

Barrys’ goal keeper James Nunn got in on the action, drifting down field and taking the opportunity when the field opened up he sent a sizzling push shot past the Ballina keeper.

Earlier, the Kittys and Quinns played in a tight match in the women’s league.

The Quinns had the upper hand in the first half before the return of Jasmine Collins and scored a goal in the second quarter.

The Kittys came back strong in the third quarter, lodging three goals and going into the final quarter locked 5-all.

There was a lot of action but strong keeping on both sides keep the scoring down.

The game finished in a well-deserved draw at 6-all.
