AMERICAN rapper Macklemore cancelled his scheduled media conference yesterday ahead of his controversial performance at the NRL grand final tomorrow.
The rapper was scheduled to fly into Sydney yesterday morning and address the media at noon to talk about the inclusion of his song Same Love in his set list.
The song has that has become an anthem across the world for the same-sex marriage cause.
However, the musician's Australian publicist said the conference had been cancelled.
It's unclear whether the singer is even in the country, but he is expected to still make his rehearsals today at lunch.
Despite calls from politician Tony Abbott to ban the song, because it "politicises” sport, it has climbed back up the Australian charts and is No.1 on iTunes.
"Yesterday someone started a petition in Australia to ban me from playing Same Love at the #NRLGF. Today its #1 on iTunes. Love is winning,” Macklemore wrote on Twitter yesterday morning. - Daily Telegraph
