Salmonella outbreak in Coffs Harbour under investigation

THE source of an outbreak of salmonella poisoning in Coffs Harbour is being investigated.

While the source is yet to be confirmed, the MNC Local Health District's Public Health Unit has advised the relevant food authority of the outbreak.

Paul Corben, the director of the Public Health Unit, Paul Corben, said a total of eight cases of salmonella poisoning in the Coffs Harbour region have been reported.

"Four people were admitted to the Coffs Harbour Base Hospital and another two received treatment at the Emergency Department and were discharged," Mr Corben said.

"A further two people received treatment at home from a general practitioner."
