Is this TV’s most shocking sex scene?
Two women, a used tampon, and feather dusters. This could possibly be the wildest sex scene ever aired on TV.
Dark comedy series Sally4Ever premieres in Australia on Fox Showcase tonight after airing in the UK last year, where it caused mass shock among viewers for its no-boundaries, full frontal lesbian sex scene in the first episode.
The show is the brainchild of British funny woman Julia Davis, who created, directed and starred in the series as the sexually liberated boho singer, Emma.
She meets the rigid Sally, played by Catherine Shepherd, who has lived a suburban life with her boring fiance David for 10 years and the pair embark on a wild sexual affair.
After meeting on the train, they get to their first intimate moment when David is out of town and Sally is trying on her wedding dress - which is her fiance's mother's vintage gown.
Emma rocks up and the pair begin their tryst on the stairs before taking it to the bedroom, where we see a lot of full-frontal, up close nudity, some 'toe' action (we'll let your imagination run wild with that one), feather dusters used as toys and even a moment with a mouth and a used tampon.
In a later episode in the season, David's elderly mother accidentally witnesses another X-rated rendezvous between the pair before fainting from shock.
Sounds like it all might have been pretty awks behind the scenes, but Davis said it was heavily discussed between her and Shepherd, as well as their body doubles who did all of the nude work.
"I sat with them for ages talking about exactly what would happen, and whether they were okay with it, to make sure (filming) it was going to be comfortable and ultimately fun," Davis said.
"The fact that (the montage) was done in a comedic way, but also hopefully because they're being directed as a woman as well, that made it all much easier to do."
Davis also revealed she wanted it to be even more intense.
"In my head initially, there was a lot more (going on); there were snails and creatures and things," she said. "But we sadly didn't have the time to do all those more artsy ideas."
Sally4Ever Season 1 premiere airs on Fox Showcase tonight at 7.30pm.
