Saffin should be given ALP Senate spot, says staffer
WITH former Foreign Minister Bob Carr announcing he will retire from the Senate, it leaves a vacancy for a NSW Labor position to be filled.
Janelle Saffin's media liaison, Lee Duncan has suggested her former boss should get the gig.
"If Labor really wants to reinvent itself as a party of good guys…why not Saffin in the Senate?" Ms Duncan posted on Facebook.
"The electorate and the parliament will be poorer for her loss, let's bring her back!"
It looks like the Labor Party will appoint Paul Howes, the national secretary for the Australian Workers Union and one of the "faceless men" who orchestrated Kevin Rudd's downfall in 2010.
Ms Duncan said that "would not be a great PR move for Labor".
Janelle Saffin laughed at the suggestion but said she was "waiting for the call".
