Safe stolen from Murwillumbah

POLICE are asking for help from the public after the theft of a safe and its contents from a property near Murwillumbah over the weekend.

Between 4am and 4pm on Sunday, offenders forced entry to a home on a property on Old Lismore Road and stole a safe which contained business records and personal documents.

The ‘Zenith’ brand digital combination safe is estimated to weigh about 60kgs and would need to have been removed in a vehicle.

Investigators have been told about 9am on Sunday a 4WD described as a late 1980s or early 1990s model Mitsubishi Pajero was seen at the property.

The white square-backed vehicle has an old rusted bulbar and possibly a red pinstripe.

Anyone with information about the incident or the current location of the safe or its contents is urged to contact Tweed Heads Detectives office on (07) 5536 0999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and a reward of up to $1000 is payable for information which leads to an arrest.
