Anthony Minichiello and Nathan Hindmarsh in Lismore for mental health

Rugby stars teach youngsters before talking mental health

NRL legends and One Community ambassadors Anthony Minichiello and Nathan Hindmarsh will hold a mental health forum at the Lismore Workers Club this evening to promote healthy and holistic living.

The forum follows a mental wellbeing chat and sporting clinic held for teen rugby league players which was held at the Police Citizens Youth Club earlier today.

Lachlan Anderson, 13, attended the event and he said the wellbeing chat prepared them for the future.

"There's other websites to go to, and just talking about how we can be good and friendly to other people even if they're being mean," he said.

Mr Hindmarsh said tonight's forum which is open to the community will be targeted more towards parents seeking advice for their family.

"It just gives the community the opportunity to ask some questions around mental health … I suppose warning signs."

The forum will kick off at the workers club on Keen St at 6.30pm with doors open from 6pm.
