Axe hangs over roundhouse site after plans passed to Govt

BYRON Shire Council's planning proposal for the former Roundhouse site, to reclassify the land as "operational land - interest changed", will be forwarded to the Department of Planning and Environment.

Mayor Simon Richardson thanked the community for their input on the matter.

"It's been on the council table for many years to sell and put the proceeds back into key Ocean Shores infrastructure works," he said.

"Proceeds from the first block land sale would go towards improving Waterlily Park amenities."

General manager Ken Gainger said the proceeds would also improve roads, drainage and sportfields.
