Ross Higgins of Kingswood Country dies

ROSS Higgins, best known for his leading role as Bullpitt in Kingswood Country, has passed away aged 85.

The Australian actor began his career in 1946 at Sydney's 2GB radio station as an on-air announcer.

Having trained as a singer he later progressed on to recording a number of singles which boosted his national profile.

In the 1960s Higgins' voice became immortal when he recorded the vocals for Moretein's first ad to feature Louie the Fly - a role he continued to play until just five years ago.

However, it was his role in Kingswood Country which ran from 1980-85 that the actor will be most remembered for - a role which became resurgent in 1997-98 with the series Bullpitt!

Higgins is survived by his wife Nadine and four children.
