Rooster cleared after knee scare

MARIST Brothers’ premiership-winning Sydney Rooster James Aubusson could be sidelined for a month or more after injuring a knee in his side’s NRL loss to Penrith on Sunday.

Roosters officials initially feared the worst when the 23-year-old went down clutching at the same left knee which was reconstructed last year,

Happily, the hooker has been cleared of a reoccurrence.

The 2003 Australian Schoolboys representative tore his medial ligament on Sunday and no damage was done to the anterior cruciate ligament which kept him sidelined for the back end of 2009.

The latest injury is another in a long line of setbacks to the former St John’s College, Woodlawn, student who has already had surgeries on his groin (twice), ankle and knee in his short NRL career.

A rapid recovery could see the Roosters’ first choice No 9 return to the paddock for a round eight Sunday afternoon clash with the razzle-dazzle Wests Tigers.
