Romance on dreamy coastline

YOU can make your wedding vows, have your reception and spend a lavish honeymoon all without leaving this one dreamy place.

Couples from all over the world celebrate their weddings at Outrigger on the Lagoon on Fiji’s Coral Coast every week.

The Bure Ni Loloma Wedding Chapel high on a hill above the main resort, with breath-sapping 300-degree views over the Pacific Ocean, is one reason for the resort’s popularity.

Higher than the chapel, the Kalokalo Bar offers even more breathtaking views and is the perfect spot for drinks after the ceremony and before the reception. Once back down to the main resort, the facilities and accommodation options are many and varied for any type of wedding.

We were not a bridal couple on our visit, but Outrigger’s romance was not lost on us.

In our pretty beachfront bure, we sipped our complimentary champagne and nibbled canapés brought by our personal Talai butler. After a stroll on the beach and a careful lowering of ageing bodies into private hammocks, we gazed out to sea like a starry-eyed young couple. Then we ate in Ivi Restaurant where the wait staff pampered us.

Earlier we had taken a buggy up that high hill to the wedding chapel, but not to renew our vows, to enjoy a couple’s treatment at Bebe Spa situated next to the chapel.

Outrigger’s facilities are five-star and include 207 rooms and suites and 47 bures hidden among 16 hectares of tropical gardens stretching along the shores of a reef-fringed lagoon.
