Roll cloud rolls the opposition in Photo of the Day poll

GIVEN some of the spectacular roll cloud images submitted for yesterday's Photo of the Day poll it might be reasonable to assume yesterday's vote came down to a battle of cloud shots.

And it did, but not by much.

This outstanding image taken by Chris Hosie at Evans Head on Wednesday afternoon topped the vote on 26%, followed by a second cloud shot from Rickyluv Photography, which managed 22%.

However, third place was a tie between three images, each on 15% and with nary a wisp in the sky to be seen in two of them.

Still, Wednesday's roll cloud or morning (afternoon?) glory was an amazing sight.

Apart from the five images that featured in yesterday's poll we received another three from Casino-based photographer Dee Hartin, who caught the cloud at Ballina and on the Bruxner Hwy between Casino and Lismore.

You can see and read more about the roll cloud here.

Photo of the Day celebrates the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of its people.

As well as appearing here, it is published on Page 2 of the paper and appears as the cover image on our Facebook page.

To contribute to Photo of the Day, share an image to our Facebook page or vote in the poll below.

Okay - it's voting time.

We have nine images to choose from for tomorrow's and Monday's photos of the day. Once again, its a spectacular sampling of visual treats from across the Northern Rivers.

As we're choosing two images, everyone gets two votes - that may not make the decisions much easier though.

Voting closes at noon.
