Roar won't be bullied by City, says Aloisi

JOHN Aloisi says his players will not be intimidated by Melbourne City's bully-boy tactics as the war of words continues between the Brisbane Roar coach and counterpart John van't Schip.

The two sides go head to head at AAMI Park tonight after Aloisi yesterday reiterated comments he made on Fox Sports on Thursday following the FFA Cup final regarding City's tough-tackling tactics in the 1-0 success over Sydney FC.

"They went to intimidate them (Sydney) and be aggressive and you saw that in the first five to 10 minutes,” Aloisi said.

"We have to be prepared. We know that they have been playing like that this year.

"We were prepared for it when they came up here (in the round five 1-0 win to the Roar) and we didn't back down and I think we have to do the same.

"Our boys won't get a hot head, they will make sure they don't get intimidated and still play our game and do what we have to do.

"Just know that we won't get bullied, and I am sure we won't.”

Van't Schip, who succeeded Aloisi as the coach at Melbourne City, said he had heard enough of Aloisi's complaints about his team, suggesting he should be congratulating his old club on its FFA Cup success instead of moaning.

"He's talking again about us. He's always having a go at us,” he said yesterday.

"It's getting a bit childish, he's whingeing like a baby.

"He's criticising us, the whole team, instead of maybe congratulating us on the win and the club that gave him the opportunity to be a head coach.

"But that's obviously not his style.”

Aloisi will likely choose Dimitri Petratos to replace the injured Brett Holman, who has had surgery on a meniscus tear in his knee and will be out for about six weeks.
