Roar takes tumble down ladder after loss to Western Sydney

THE Roar is officially a team in disarray following yesterday's 1-0 defeat to the Western Sydney Wanderers at Parramatta Stadium.

The Brisbane outfit's fall from grace has been a remarkable one - last season's champion now sits second equal last with Sydney FC.

It could soon find itself in outright last place following the rejuvenated Sky Blues' 2-1 win over the Phoenix yesterday.

After a flurry of goal-scoring opportunities for the visitors early and late in the game, it was amazing the Roar ended up the losers.

Besart Berisha and Ben Halloran found themselves one-on-one with Wanderers goalkeeper Ante Covic both inside the first six minutes but could not shoot past the veteran.

A frantic final 10 minutes finished off an entertaining spectacle.

Wanderers' Dino Kresinger was brought down inside the penalty area for Japanese import Shinji Ono to score his first A-League goal in the 87th minute.

But the Roar could have walked away winners had shots from Mitch Nichols and Shane Stefanutto not cannoned into the woodwork.

Ono's goal was also the Wanderers' first following two goal-less matches.
