Roar a '100% a better side' since loss to Jets, says McKay

FOOTBALL: Brisbane skipper Matt McKay says revenge will not be on the players' minds when the Roar faces the Newcastle Jets at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

The Jets handed the Roar a 4-0 thumping in round two of the A-League but McKay said that result was part of history and the team was just focused on getting a result this time around.

"There is no revenge,” he said.

"If we did that then we'd have revenge against every side that beat us.

"We love playing at Suncorp. We've got a good record (here) both this season and last, and we can continue that.”

The Roar is third on the ladder but McKay said that would improve if the team could string some victories together.

"I'm not even sure where we are at the moment to be honest, if you get a run of wins together then I think it really helps you,” he said.

"We need to produce performances that get us wins and if we do that then we'll be up the pointy end of the table.

"We've come a long way since then (the 4-0 loss to Jets). We're 100% a better side from there and I think we can show that this weekend.

"From there we haven't played the best in every game, but when we have we've got the right results.

"If we can replicate what we've been doing in the last 10 weeks up against Newcastle then we will win.”

Meanwhile, Sydney FC has confirmed its defender Matt Jurman is headed for a top Asian club, reported to be Suwon Bluewings in Korea.

Jurman, a former Roar player, is out of contract at the end of this season and said: "I have had some fantastic memories at Sydney FC and made some friends for life both in the dressing room and among the supporters.

"My game has developed enormously in the last few years and I will always be thankful to the club for that, and also for supporting me with this wonderful opportunity that lies ahead.”
