Richmond MP Justine Elliot spends $660,000 on office costs
RICHMOND MP Justine Elliot spent $661,865 on printing and communications costs from July 2009 to December 2014, $164,621 of which was claimed during the past two election campaign periods.
Ms Elliot spent $91,430 in the last half of 2010, $77,490 of which - 84% - was spent during the election campaign.
She claimed $119,525 on the entitlement between July and December 2013, with 72% - $87,131 - spent during the campaign.
She said the claims were to "engage the views and values of people within our region" and were legal and within the rules.
First-term Page MP Kevin Hogan has spent $124,502 since his election in 2013.
He did not respond to questions.
His predecessor and Labor's 2016 candidate, Janelle Saffin, spent $598,728 on the entitlement from July 2009 to the end of 2013.
Ms Saffin spent $93,605 during the last half of 2013, 94% of which - $88,566 - was spent during the election campaign.
But she spent less during the 2010 campaign, claiming $122,956 in printing and communications costs in the last half of 2010 with only 57% - $70,490 - claimed during the 2010 campaign.
Ms Saffin said her claims were within the rules and that "in an election period people want to know more about what you do".
