Ricciardo confident he can clinch first in 2013 F1 season
AUSTRALIAN Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has set his sights firmly on a first podium finish in 2013 - and believes a win may not be completely out of reach.
The 23-year-old Toro Rosso driver has had 31 starts in F1 after debuting in 2011.
He finished 18th in the drivers' championship in 2012.
Speaking with Spanish newspaper AS, the Perth-born Ricciardo said he was "positive" about the team's new STR8 chassis, which had performed well in testing.
"Last year, our car was not competitive enough, but we'll see what we can do this time," he said.
"I think our goal should be to become the best team after the big fight, so (competing with) Williams, Force India, Sauber."
"For me, it's to be in the points regularly and if possible get some podiums."
Ricciardo, who has been talked about as a possible replacement for compatriot Mark Webber at Red Bull should the two part ways at the end of 2013, said even a win was "not impossible", but would need conditions such as rain to help.
The 2013 F1 season starts on March 17 in Melbourne.
