Reward of $5000 for best mate

DODGER is black and white, and fluffy all over ... and lost.

The five-year-old Border Collie has been missing for three weeks and his owner is so anxious to find Dodger he's offering a $5000 reward for anyone who can bring him back home.

Robert Morris has looked all over his property, six kilometres east of Tabulam, but has had no luck.

"I've spent a lot of time walking through the bush," he said. "I hope someone has picked him up.

"He'd go with someone if he was treated right."

It's not like Dodger to run away.

"He's a bit of a wanderer, but he's never wandered far."

Dodger escaped one day when Robert went to work mowing lawns. He usually put Dodger on the chain before he left, but must not have tied him up properly that day.

Dodger was dragging his chain behind him when he got away and Robert thinks that someone stopped to pick Dodger up because his track stopped at the front gate.

"Old Dodger is not really active. He doesn't run far," Robert said.

Robert saved Dodger from the Casino pound after he lost a dog to old age. Dodger himself was on death row at the time.

"He had a hard life. There was a great big hole in his throat and nobody wanted him," Robert said. "I was after a Border Collie, and I got him just in time.

"When I pulled up to the pound all the dogs were barking. But Dodger was just standing there."

"He's a gentle dog. When he likes someone he wags his tail and carries on, but he doesn't like anyone going near his bones."

The reward money is worth every cent if Dodger can be returned safely.

"My word he's worth $5000. He's my mate," Robert said.
