Review of Shaws Bay plan to be considered

A REVIEW of the Shaws Bay management plan will be considered by Ballina Shire Council as part of the 2013/14 budget process.

The idea was put forward by Cr Sharon Cadwallader, who says the bay must be protected in a "proactive manner".

She said a review of the plan of management should be given high priority, considering that funding had recently been set aside for the Lake Ainsworth area. A review of the plan could cost up to $50,000.

The council will also consider the preparation of a detailed foreshore master plan for the Crown land precinct from Martin St to the Ballina Memorial Swimming Pool.

This area incorporates the pool, Ballina Naval and Maritime Museum, visitor information centre, Richmond Room and the library.
