REVEALED: The Block's stunning guest bedrooms

NETBALLERS Bianca and Carla have scored their first win on The Block.

The former athletes bounced back from a shocking result in a mid-week challenge to restore the judges' faith in their ability to deliver high-end finishes in their penthouse apartment.

"Hallelujah, somebody has given us a room finally that feels modern and luxurious and glamorous and absolutely on brief for the building that we're in," Neale Whitaker said.

"It's almost impossible to believe it's Bianca and Carla. I was worried after that challenge that they didn't understand proportions… this is next level."

Aside from a few minor details, including not painting under the floating side tables, the duo impressed with the continuation of the timber feature ceiling from their main bathroom.

Some much-needed styling advice from the judges during the week, unprecedented so early on in the show, helped some teams and had others second guessing including Courtney and Hans

Despite a botched ceiling and a lack of styling confidence, the high-flying Perth couple were the runners up this week by just half a point.

The judges loved their guest bedroom's colour palette, but their pendant lights were too large for the space.

"This is a winning colour for me. I call it nude," Whitaker said.

"It's absolutely beautiful and so sophisticated, and a nice twist in the pinks we've been seeing in recent seasons.

"My feeling about this room is it's well on the way to being a lovely room, it's just slightly under-cooked. I think they're lacking confidence at the moment and they shouldn't be."

Jess and Norm finished third again this week. The Sunshine Coast couple scored points with the judges for clearly taking on their styling advice, but then lost a few when their lack of power points and light switches was noticed.

"This (bedhead) is hot. Look at that, somebody paid attention," Darren Palmer said.

"You've got his bold green and then lovely muted navy. There's lots of colour but it's not overwhelming.

"But in all seriousness that (the single power point under the bed) pisses me off."

Kerrie and Spence finished in fourth place with their cramped guest bedroom, which had space taken away from it to enlarge their main bathroom.

"The actual bedroom part is feeling a little big claustrophobic to me," Whitaker said.

"What's going through my mind is we did talk to them at some length about injecting some personality in this room… there's nothing in here that is wowing me."

Shaynna Blaze encouraged the couple to "loosen up" and embrace St Kilda's eclectic vibe.

Confident Sydney couple Hayden and Sara look set to walk off the show after finishing last again.

Sara toned down her styling, but apparently she went too far with her guest bedroom labelled as boring.

"This is flat. This feels like a room in a boutique hotel that is ready to be renovated," Whitaker said.

"In paring back I think Hayden and Sara have thrown the baby out with the bathwater because what's left is a pretty soulless room.

"They have sucked all the life out of what I saw in the challenge the other day... it's about storytelling. There has to be a narrative in styling a house."
